Building a Smarter Internet: How Simplify Is Redefining Wi-Fi for Everyone

November 10, 2025

When we think of Wi-Fi, we think of convenience — the invisible network that keeps our world connected. But for Yen Pei Tay, founder and CEO of Simplify Networks, Wi-Fi isn’t just a convenience. It’s an opportunity to make connectivity smarter, fairer, and more sustainable.

And that’s exactly what Simplify is doing — with its patented Smarter Wi-Fi technology that turns ordinary internet users into mini service providers.

What Is “Smarter Wi-Fi,” and How Does It Work?

At the heart of Simplify’s innovation lies Smarter Wi-Fi, a US-patented technology built around three powerful features — internet sharing, enhanced security, and one-touch connection.

“The first feature allows you to share your excess internet bandwidth with others,” Yen Pei explains. “It’s all managed through our Smarter Wi-Fi app.”

The idea is simple but groundbreaking — users can open up their unused bandwidth to others nearby, effectively democratizing internet access.

  • Democratized Internet Access: Users can share their unused bandwidth with others nearby.
  • Double-Encrypted Password Mechanism: Provides an additional layer of protection when sharing Wi-Fi.
  • One-Touch Connect: Simplifies the connection process for users, as the app automatically deciphers the password.
  • Frictionless and Safe: Offers a seamless user experience while maintaining security.

Is Simplify Competing with the Big Telcos?

Despite its disruptive potential, Simplify isn’t trying to replace Malaysia’s telecom giants. In fact, it sees itself as a strategic partner rather than a rival.

“We’re not here to beat telcos,” Yen Pei clarifies. “Telcos are our suppliers. Without them, there’s nothing to sell. We complement what they’re doing by helping accelerate 5G adoption and building public awareness around how 5G can transform connectivity.”

Interestingly, none of Malaysia’s major telcos currently operate large-scale Wi-Fi networks. “We’re filling that gap,” he says. “5G and Wi-Fi work hand in hand, not against each other. It’s a long-term partnership, not competition.”

For Yen Pei, Simplify’s approach isn’t about disruption — it’s about reimagining the business model of connectivity itself. “We’re creating a new way to distribute, secure, and share the internet,” he explains. “It’s about inclusion, not competition.”
